92/100 | Stephen Wong
Hazy, luminous gold. This is clearly a low-intervention, amber wine. Bursting with complex, savoury, spicy and wild flavours ranging from to dried orange peel, ginger, grapefruit seed and wet stone to mead, hops and white pepper. The palate is dry and grippy with notable pithy tannins closing in from the mid-palate right to the finish, giving it a chewy texture. Enjoy this with food in its youth or let it meld and evolve in bottle over a few years to reveal more of its spicy, savoury side
2022 vintage
92/100 | Anne Krebiehl MW
Picked in the Brawn and Kerseley vineyards in Dillons Point and the Alice Mills Vineyard in Rapaura, this blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris was whole-bunch fermented and macerated for 90 days to result in a pale orange wine. Dried orange peel on the nose trails white pepper and heady summer blossom – not up-front but as a lingering, gently perfumed cloud. The palate then unpacks the full force of the white pepper on its super-light body that is absolutely mouthwatering. An unusual wine with slight yeasty funk and a perfect way to get into orange wine. Gorgeous tangerine and orange flavours and vivid freshness make for a most appetising wine, light in body but full on flavour. Bravo!
Excellent to Outstanding | Mark Henderson, Otago Daily Times
Incredible pungency to this with notes of cut grass, preserved lemon, orange, fresh herbs, fruit sherbet and a wild, slightly funky element. In the mouth it’s home- made lemonade, herbs, feijoa and spices and while crispness is to the fore, there’s an underlying textural richness. Suppleness with a delightfully long and fresh finish.
